nice to meet you

Hi, I’m Caroline Teal!

I’m a stained glass artist, graphic designer, and part-time instructor. I studied photography and printmaking at Texas State University, and my first career was in production screen printing. I’ve always loved alternative photographic processes and have a long-standing fascination with light and color, this is a common thread between stained glass and photography.

While making my thesis project at Texas State, I interviewed Grace Potter, an endlessly talented artist working in music, paper, and stained glass. She walked me through the broad strokes of the glassmaking process, and I was enchanted. These days I maintain my own stained glass studio practice while also staying busy with custom graphic design projects.

I’m unabashedly liberal, an arts advocate, and endlessly curious about how craft, color, and storytelling intersect. Whether I’m designing a stained glass panel or a logo, I love creating work that makes people pause, smile, and maybe notice a small detail they might have otherwise missed.

When I’m not in the studio, I'm wandering the mountains of western North Carolina, at my day job with The John C. Campbell Folk School, connecting with fellow makers, collecting ideas, and making up silly songs to serenade my critters with.

Do you love critters? meet mine!
